Since we've started making most of our meals at home, we don't order pizza any more, and I can't say I'm sad about it! When you transition over to homemade pizza, you'll likely never go back to PIzza Hut or wherever your favorite pizza restaurant used to be! The one thing I hadn't had in a while was cheesy breadsticks, but now I will make these a regularly with our Friday pizza nights! You can't go wrong with these, especially paired with a delicious homemade ranch dressing! These are finger-licking good!!
Ingredients:
Dough:
- 1 1/8 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 teaspoon honey
- 3/4 cup warm water (90-105*)
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons olive or avocado oil
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon sunflower lecithin
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 ½ - 2 cups hard white or hard red fresh milled flour
Topping:
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 1/4 cups freshly grated mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
- In a large bowl or stand mixer combine the warm water with the honey and yeast. Stir to combine and let rest for 5 minutes. Add the olive or avocado oil, salt, lemon juice, sunflower lecithin, and Italian seasoning.
- Begin mixing on medium-low speed and gradually add the flour --knead for about 5 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic and can achieve window pane. (it should be slightly sticky, but not so sticky that it sticks to your clean fingertip). Cover the bowl with a dry towel and allow to rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 475*F.
- Gently punch the dough down. Place a large piece of parchment paper on your counter and use your hands to spread the dough into a rectangle about ⅓ inch thick.
- Mix melted butter and garlic in a small bowl then spread mixture evenly over dough, all the way to the edges. Top with parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
- Transfer the dough (still on the parchment paper) onto a baking sheet. Bake for 8-12 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
- Serve with dipping sauces like marinara sauce or ranch and enjoy!
